    Description

    The Admiral Lake Rake, though a simple tool, is one of the single most important pieces of equipment for maintaining a beautiful and inviting beach (seriously)!  If you check out our YouTube video (Admiral Lake Rake), you'll see why.  This rake has a 36-inch-wide aluminum head and heavy duty fiberglass handle that will last for many years.  It's
    indispensable
    in maintaining beaches and lake shoreline. Once you've used one, you'll wonder how you ever did without.
    How do we recommend using the Admiral Lake Rake?
    Your individual shoreline type and situation will determine the most effective way to clean your beach.  Many homeowners on lakes have their beach sand brought in (vs the sand being there naturally).  As such, they probably don't want to be raking up a bunch of sand with the debris that they are trying to dispose of.  If this is your situation, I recommend raking the debris back into the water ("what?").  Doing this will separate most of the debris from the sand.    After raking all the debris into the water, then rake parallel to the shoreline, until you have accumulated  a good batch of debris.  Now you can rake that pile up onto the beach and there should be minimal sand.  keep this up making piles as you go.  Then you can come back with a wheel barrow and pick up each of the piles. Next, dump the wheelbarrow on your
    neighbor's
    beach (Kidding! Actually, b
    efore throwing it away, you can try using it in your garden or compost pile.
    Aquatic plants serve as a great weed deterrent when spread between your vegetable or flowering plants.  As they decay, they will also serve as valuable nutrition source.

    The above method may be advisable even if you are not concerned about losing sand because your debris piles will be much lighter when you go to pick them up.
    So now you have all the debris picked up.
    However, there may be little bits here and there and the beach doesn't look "natural" with all those raking lines. What can you do about it? Flip the rake over, because you will be now be using the smooth edge for this task. Step into the water and use the rake to bring in waves of water up onto the beach (if you have a wavy day, try to and do this motion in sync with the waves. You will get a better result with less effort).  Your motion should be such that you are bringing water up on the beach at a 45 degree angle or, whatever angle you need to ensure that the water comes up on the beach, smooths the rake lines, picks up the last bits of debris, and still has enough motion and volume to wash back into the lake.
    After doing this all the way down your shoreline, it should remind you of the Bahamas!  I have also found that having a smooth sand shoreline also makes the next clean-up just a bit easier.  So crack a cold one, bring out the tequila and the blender and RELAX!  You've earned it!
